Bluegrass Spirits Film Premiere

Twelve Lions is proud to announce that the independent film Bluegrass Spirits (2023), which was shot entirely in central Kentucky, will have its premiere at the festival on Thursday, September 28. The home of the TLFF is Lexington, Kentucky’s historic Kentucky Theatre, so we’re especially thrilled to be showcasing a film made so close to home.

Written, directed, and produced by Jonny Walls and co-produced by Aaron Champion, this film stars Jake Busey (Stranger Things, The Predator, Starship Troopers) as Nicholas, a recovering alcoholic who owns a failing bourbon distillery. When he meets a ghost-hunter, their views on belief and disbelief come to a head. Nicholas allows the ghost hunter to run a tour of the distillery, which is said to be haunted, in exchange for a portion of the profits.

Through a series of ghost hunts around the Bluegrass, which are equal parts hilarious and emotional, the two are forced to confront their own personal “ghosts”.
